The Studio

In his studio, Wim works at the intersection of technology and craft.

Not as opposites, but as a natural pairing.

Technology is not an end in itself here, but a means: an extension of a way of working that has always existed.

Using 3D printers and a laser cutter, he explores how precision and growth can meet.

These tools enable forms that would otherwise not come into being, but they do not dictate direction.

That remains human, intuitive, and grounded in material.

Material choice is not a side note.

The 3D prints are produced in PLA, a biobased material derived from natural resources.

Not as a statement, but as a logical extension of a natural process.

For laser-cut works, wood is used: a material with memory, resistance and time embedded in it.

Each piece is finished with natural, lime-based paint, allowing surfaces to remain open and layered, able to develop a skin of their own.

This gives rise to a practice in which human, nature and technology do not stand in opposition, but exist in relation.

Materials do not form a contrast, but a conversation.

Aesthetics and sustainability coincide "not as a promise" but as a consequence of how the work comes into being.

Within this tension, modernity gains weight and authenticity becomes more sharply defined. The contemporary does not stand apart from the timeless here, but is carried by it.
